Ratings Archives: Week of June 29, 1998

A week after just edging NBC for the top spot in the weekly ratings, CBS dominates this week's numbers. CBS posted a seven tenths of a point advantage over second place NBC. CBS grabbed three of the top five shows and allowing NBC with just one entry at the top of the chart. ABC was, once again, in third place, 1.3 ratings point behind first place CBS. FOX is nearly another full point behind ABC, for fourth place.

 Helping push CBS to the win was the Sunday movie of the week, featuring the 1993 theatrical movie DAVE, starring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver. The movie ranked second on the week, hauling in 13.6 million viewers and a 17% share of the audience.

Other movies for the week were the the theatrical movie POWDER, on FOX. which drew 10.2 million viewers on a Tuesday night. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, FOX presented the 1997 miniseries INTENSITY, based on the novel by Dean Koontz. An average of six million viewers watched the movie, over two nights. The CBS Tuesday night movie was an encore of the 1995 TV movie  IT WAS HIM OR US. It collected 10.6 million viewers.

The week's five lowest rated programs were:

5) NICK FRENO (WB) - 1.7 HH rating / 4 share
5) LOVE BOAT (UPN) - 1.7 HH rating / 4 share
5) TIME COP (ABC) - 1.7 HH rating / 4 share
3) THE SENTINEL (UPN) - 1.6 HH rating / 3 share
1) CLUELESS (UPN) - 1.4 HH rating / 2 share
1) CLUELESS (UPN) - 1.4 HH rating / 2 share
